Brenda Wintermyer is a native of York County, where she raised two children and lives today with her husband Wayne. She graduated from the York Academy of Art having studied under painters William Falkler & Maya Shock. During her 30-year career as an illustrator, Brenda worked on projects with international companies Pfaltzgraff Pottery & Hershey Foods, as well as regional companies Wolfgang Candies, Utz Potato Chips & Hanover Foods.
In 1990 she became an instructor of drawing and illustration at the Bradley Academy for the Visual Arts, now the Art Institute of York, Pennsylvania, and also served as an adjunct faculty member in the art department of York College until 2003. Brenda also offers classes in drawing and painting in her studio loft at justBrendaart STUDIO gallery in downtown York, PA.
Brenda draws her inspiration from her environment whether it 's the streets of city series or the golden hills of Tuscany. She often paints plein air, taking her canvas and easel to the scene to paint out of doors. A collection of her plein air paintings known as "The White Rose Collection" are permanently on display in The Martini Bar at The White Rose Bar & Grill located on the corner of Beaver and Philadelphia Streets.
These 22 paintings highlight architecture and street scenes in York City. Giclee prints of this series are available to collectors. This series highlights her commitment to York City where Brenda has served in many capacities as part of ongoing efforts to revitalize the arts and cultural communities of the city and, as always, to support local artists and artisans.
In 2004 Brenda co-founded City Art Studio gallery in York, PA, where she taught workshops and was the curator for regional, national and international art, until 2008.
Currently Brenda is painting and teaching in her new studio loft justBrendaart STUDIO gallery located @ 22 North Beaver Street, on the second floor above Reiss Jewelers, in historic downtown York, PA.
